Lissachatina zanzibarica is a medium-sized, ovoviviparous land snail native to the coastal regions of Tanzania in Southeast Africa. Adults typically reach 8–13.5 cm in length, with slender, lightweight shells that range from pale yellow to deep amber, often adorned with dark brown or black markings. A distinctive feature is the pink to peach-colored apex, which develops as juveniles—born live at around 2 mm—mature over several months.
In the wild, L. zanzibarica inhabits humid forest floors and grasslands, contributing to decomposition and soil health. Unlike many other species, it rarely burrows except when laying young, and is notably active. Its shell shape resembles an elongated ice cream cone, and its body is pale with darker head markings or a dorsal stripe. This species thrives in captivity
