Creobroter sp. “Yunnan” is a striking flower‑mantis type species from the subtropical regions of Yunnan, China, known for its bold patterning and lively, alert behaviour. Like other Creobroter, it’s a compact, fast‑growing mantis with a distinctive leaf‑like wing pattern that flashes when startled. Individuals tend to be confident hunters, perching openly and reacting quickly to movement, which makes them engaging to observe and popular with keepers who enjoy active, visually interesting species.
This form is typically slightly more robust than the commonly kept Creobroter gemmatus, with a warm‑toned colour palette that blends beautifully with foliage. They’re agile, capable jumpers, and show the classic “flower mantis” stillness when stalking prey. As nymphs they can be a little skittish, but they settle well with regular, gentle interaction during enclosure maintenance.
In temperament, Creobroter sp. Yunnan is generally tolerant but still retains the typical Creobroter tendency toward cannibalism if overcrowded or underfed. Adults display well, often holding a high, alert posture and showing off their patterned wings when disturbed. With their manageable size, rapid development, and charismatic behaviour, they make an excellent display species for both hobbyists and educational collection
