Tonkinbolus dolfusii, commonly known as the Vietnamese Rainbow Millipede, is a vibrant tropical species native to Southeast Asia. Reaching up to 10 cm in length, these millipedes are celebrated for their striking coloration—featuring bands of ruby red, yellow, orange, and even green along a cylindrical body. Each individual displays a unique pattern, making them a visually captivating addition to any vivarium.
They belong to the family Pachybolidae and thrive in warm, humid environments with soft substrate and plenty of leaf litter. As detritivores, they help break down organic matter, aerate soil, and contribute to a healthy micro-ecosystem. With a gentle temperament and easy care requirements, T. dolfusii is ideal for both beginner and experienced keepers. Lifespans typically range from 5 to 8 years, and they reproduce via egg-laying. Their non-aggressive nature and silent behavior make them a peaceful, low-maintenance choice for bioactive setups.
