Sungaya inexpectata, affectionately known as the sunny stick insect, is a compact, spiny phasmid native to the Philippines, particularly Luzon. Its earthy brown tones and subtle golden highlights give it a sun-warmed appearance, while its calm temperament and slow movements make it a striking display species. Females dominate captive populations and reproduce parthenogenetically, laying fertile eggs without mating. Though males do exist in the wild, they’re rarely seen. Feeding readily on bramble, hazel, and ivy, S. inexpectata thrives in warm, moderately humid enclosures and is known for its quirky, curled resting posture
