Spiny Lynx Spider (Oxyopes globifer)

Oxyopes globifer is a small, lively lynx spider known for its alert posture and delicate, spiny legs. Originating from warm regions of South Asia and parts of East Africa, it thrives in bright, open vegetation such as grasses, shrubs, and crop plants. Although the lynx spider group is familiar across the Mediterranean, O. globifer itself is a tropical species, adapted to consistent warmth and moderate humidity.

Customers are often drawn to its elegant appearance and active behaviour. This species hunts during the day, relying on quick movements and excellent vision rather than webs. Its subtle yellow‑brown or greenish tones help it blend beautifully into foliage, making it an engaging display animal despite its small size.

In the home, Oxyopes globifer is easy to care for and well suited to beginners. A ventilated enclosure with vertical plants, moderate humidity, and temperatures around 22–28°C provides everything it needs. It feeds readily on small insects such as fruit flies and tiny crickets, making daily care simple and accessible. For anyone looking for a compact, charismatic predator with plenty of personality, this species is an excellent choice.
