Simandoa conserfariam, also known as the Simandoa cave roach, is a rare species of cockroach once found in a single cave in Guinea, West Africa. It lived among bat guano near the cave entrance, showing none of the typical traits of obligate cave dwellers like reduced eyes or wings. Sadly, its habitat was destroyed by bauxite mining, rendering it extinct in the wild. Fortunately, it survives in captivity and is popular among insect hobbyists for its ease of care and striking yellow-banded appearance.
