Protaetia speciosa cyanochlora, often referred to as the “Sapphire of Persia,” is a dazzling flower beetle subspecies native to the Zagros Mountains of Iran. Adults range from 20–35 mm and shimmer in brilliant metallic blue-green hues, making them a standout in any collection. Diurnal and fruit-loving, they feed on banana, jelly, and other sweet produce, while larvae thrive in wood-humus enriched with protein or flake soil. With a generation time of 11–13 months and a preference for warm (20–28 °C), moderately humid (60–80%) conditions, they’re both beautiful and manageable for dedicated breeders.
