Rhopalomeris sp. “Pikachu” is an eye‑catching, undescribed pill millipede locality that’s become popular in the hobby for its bold yellow banding and glossy dark body. The contrast is so strong that the nickname stuck immediately, and most keepers recognise it as one of the most vibrant Rhopalomeris types currently circulating. Although not formally described, its appearance and behaviour align closely with other Thai–Myanmar Rhopalomeris species, suggesting it belongs to the same forest‑floor detritivore group as R. carnifex and R. sirindhornae.
In captivity, “Pikachu” behaves like a typical pill millipede: slow, secretive, and happiest when buried in deep, leaf‑rich substrate. They thrive in stable, humid forest‑style setups with plenty of decayed wood and leaf litter, forming small clusters around the richest feeding pockets. Their colouration remains vivid into adulthood, making them a favourite for display enclosures even though they spend much of their time tucked beneath leaves.
Because the species is undescribed, care is based on genus‑level husbandry and long‑term keeper experience. Fortunately, Rhopalomeris are consistent across the board: moderate warmth, high humidity, deep substrate, and a diet centred on decomposing hardwood material. When these basics are met, “Pikachu” is a hardy, reliable species that settles quickly and maintains its striking appearance.
