Thyropygus sp. “Orange Titan” is one of the truly impressive Southeast Asian giants, a heavy-bodied millipede with warm orange and mahogany tones that give it a striking, almost lacquered appearance. Adults commonly reach 18–22 cm, moving with the slow, deliberate confidence typical of the genus. They come from humid monsoon forests where the ground stays moist year‑round, and that background shapes their needs in captivity: deep, rich substrate, high humidity, and stable warmth.
 
In behaviour, they’re calm, steady animals that spend long periods burrowed, emerging at dusk to feed on leaf litter and decaying wood. They’re hardy once established, but they do rely on consistently moist conditions — they dislike drying out and will retreat underground if humidity drops. Temperatures around the mid‑20s suit them well, keeping them active and feeding without stress.
 
Their size and colour make them a standout display species, but they’re also gentle and easy to manage, ideal for keepers who enjoy large millipedes with predictable, placid temperaments. With the right depth of substrate and a warm, humid environment, “Orange Titan” thrives and becomes a reliable, impressive presence in any collection.
