Platymeris rhadamanthus, often called the spotted assassin bug, is a striking predatory species native to East Africa. A rare yellow-spotted morph—sometimes referred to as the “Mombo” form—originated from a small population collected near Mombo, Tanzania. These bugs use their piercing mouthparts to subdue prey and are known for their potent venom and bold warning colors. In captivity, they’re popular for their dramatic appearance, active hunting behavior, and ease of care, thriving on a diet of roaches, crickets, and other invertebrates.
