'Lipstick' Pill Millipede (Rhopalomeris sp. 'lipstick')

Rhopalomeris sp. “Lipstick” is a striking Southeast Asian pill millipede notable for its vivid red‑pink legs and contrasting yellow‑and‑black dorsal banding. Like other Rhopalomeris, it can roll tightly into a defensive sphere and spends most of its life within humid forest litter, feeding on decomposing leaves and wood. In captivity it’s considered an easy, beginner‑friendly species thanks to its stable requirements and calm behaviour.

It thrives at 22–24 °C with high humidity around 80%, ideally in a deep, moisture‑retentive substrate rich in leaf litter, decayed hardwood, and pockets of moss. The species is fully detritivorous, but keepers often offer soft fruits or vegetables as occasional supplements, along with a calcium source such as cuttlebone. Social and non‑aggressive, “Lipstick” pill millipedes do well in groups and display slow, gentle activity that makes them popular in the hobby.
