Elliptorhina javanica, commonly known as the Halloween hissing cockroach, is a striking species native to Madagascar. Renowned for its glossy black body adorned with vivid yellow banding, it’s one of the most visually distinctive members of the Gromphadorhini tribe. Like its other Madagascan hissing cousins, it produces a characteristic hiss via spiracles—used in communication and defense.
