Treptogonostreptus intricatus is a striking, gentle giant from the forests of Cameroon, known for its smooth dark colouring and calm temperament. Adults typically reach 15–20 cm, making them an impressive but very manageable species for keepers who enjoy large African millipedes. They spend much of their time tucked into deep, nutritious substrate, emerging at night to explore and feed.
 
In the wild, this species lives among leaf litter and rotting hardwood, helping to break down forest debris. In captivity, it thrives when those natural conditions are recreated: warm, humid air; a deep, soft substrate rich in decayed wood; and occasional treats like cucumber, melon, or squash. They’re slow-moving, peaceful, and easy to handle, making them a lovely choice for anyone wanting a relaxed, beginner‑friendly millipede.
