Eucorydia dasytoides is one of the most visually striking members of the Corydiidae family, instantly recognisable by its metallic greens, blues, and vivid orange abdominal banding. Native to humid forests across Taiwan and parts of mainland East Asia, it’s a small, fast-moving species that spends its time on leaf litter, bark, and mossy surfaces. Adults reach around 15–20 mm and are fully winged, giving them a delicate, jewel-like appearance that has made them a favourite among invertebrate enthusiasts.
 
In nature, this species thrives in warm, moisture-rich microhabitats, often becoming active after rainfall. They are quick, alert, and capable of short fluttering flights, making them more of a display species than one suited to handling. Despite their bright colours, they are entirely non‑pest and have no association with human dwellings.
 
In captivity, E. dasytoides requires high humidity, good airflow, and a substrate rich in leaf litter and decayed wood. They feed readily on pollen mixes, fish flakes, and soft fruits, but their oothecae can be sensitive, making breeding a rewarding challenge for keepers who enjoy maintaining specialised forest species. Their combination of colour, movement, and rarity makes them a standout addition to any curated collection.
