Neoregelia sp. ‘Fireball’ is a compact bromeliad cultivar celebrated for its vivid scarlet foliage. Unlike many bromeliads that are prized for their flowers, ‘Fireball’ is grown primarily for its striking rosette of leaves, which flush bright red under strong light. Its small size, usually around 10–15 cm across, makes it ideal for terrariums, tropical displays, or mass plantings where clusters of fiery rosettes create a dramatic effect.
This cultivar originates from Brazilian Neoregelia species, adapted to life as epiphytes in the Atlantic Forest. In cultivation, it thrives in bright, indirect light and high humidity, with its central cup kept filled with fresh water. The plant produces offsets, or “pups,” around its base, allowing it to multiply easily and form dense colonies.
Low-maintenance yet visually striking, ‘Fireball’ is a favorite among collectors and landscapers alike. Its ability to add bold color without demanding complex care makes it a versatile choice for both indoor and outdoor tropical-themed plantings.
