Eyelash Jumping Spider (Hyllus diardi) - Sub Adult Pair

Ready for shipping 25th March

Hyllus diardi is a large, charismatic jumping spider that’s become a favourite among keepers thanks to its calm nature and expressive behaviour. It comes from warm, humid parts of Southeast Asia, where it spends its days exploring leaves and branches, watching the world with those big forwardfacing eyes. They’re confident little spiders, often sitting out in the open rather than hiding away, which makes them great to observe.

Often dubbed the “heavy jumper,” this species sports a robust, muscular build and striking metallic hues of green, blue, or purple, especially in males. Females are slightly larger and display ornate abdominal patterns, while both sexes boast excellent vision thanks to their prominent anterior eyes. Found in tropical forests across countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, H. diardi is a diurnal predator that uses its keen eyesight and agility to stalk and pounce on prey

In captivity, Hyllus diardi is straightforward to keep. They appreciate a simple arboreal setup with some height to climb, good airflow, and moderate humidity. They’re active hunters but not frantic, and they tend to settle into a routine quickly. With a lifespan of around 18 months to two years, they offer a rewarding experience for anyone who enjoys watching natural behaviour up close.
