Ardentiella sp. “Ember Bee” is one of the most striking isopods in the hobby, instantly recognisable for its glowing yellow‑to‑red pattern over a deep black underside. Originating from Vietnam, this semi‑arboreal Armadillid is active, visible, and far more inquisitive than most of its relatives. Adults reach around 20 mm and spend much of their time climbing bark and grazing across vertical surfaces, making them a standout display species.
 
Despite their bold colours, Ember Bees are surprisingly gentle in temperament and thrive when given strong airflow and a tall, structured enclosure. They prefer a cool, well‑ventilated setup with a damp base layer and plenty of dry refuge above. Cork bark, branches, and leaf litter are essential, allowing them to move naturally and remain visible throughout the day.
 
This species is best suited to keepers who enjoy active, arboreal isopods and can provide consistent ventilation. When kept correctly, Ember Bees breed steadily and maintain their vivid colours across generations, offering a rewarding and visually stunning addition to any collection.
