Dried whole shrimp (3–5 cm) are a high‑value protein and calcium source that many isopods will readily consume when offered in small, broken pieces. Their natural marine profile delivers amino acids, minerals, and chitin, supporting moulting, growth, and reproductive conditioning in omnivorous species such as Porcellio, Armadillidium, Cubaris, and other larger tropical forms. Because the shrimp are firm and slow to break down, they provide a long‑lasting protein item that doesn’t quickly foul the substrate, making them a practical, nutrient‑dense supplement to leaf litter and decaying wood. They’re especially useful for boosting colony output in species that respond well to periodic, high‑quality animal protein.
