Anisomorpha buprestoides, commonly known as the two-striped walkingstick or devil rider, is a stout, wingless phasmid native to the southeastern United States. Notable for its bold longitudinal stripes and strong chemical defense, this species can emit a noxious spray from thoracic glands that may cause irritation or temporary blindness in predators when startled. Females reach up to 75 mm, while males are smaller and often seen riding on the female’s back during mating.
