Crassula ovata ‘Undulata’ is a compact, slow‑growing jade plant cultivar known for its gently wavy, fleshy green leaves edged with red. It forms a small, branching evergreen sub‑shrub with thick stems and a bushy habit, staying much smaller than the standard jade plant. Mature plants typically reach 0.1–0.5 m in height and 0.1–0.5 m in spread, taking 5–10 years to reach their full size.
The foliage is its standout feature: glossy, succulent leaves with a soft undulating shape that gives the plant a sculptural, textured look. The red edging becomes more pronounced in strong light, adding contrast and colour. Like other jade plants, it retains its leaves year‑round and develops thicker, woody stems as it matures.
This cultivar thrives in full sun with a south‑ or west‑facing aspect, ideally in a sheltered position. Indoors, a bright windowsill is ideal. It prefers well‑drained cactus compost, and watering should be moderate from spring to autumn, allowing the soil to dry between waterings, then sparingly in winter. Overwatering is the main risk, and wetting the leaves can mark their surface.
