Acanthoscurria geniculata, commonly known as the Brazilian Whiteknee Tarantula, is a large, striking species from the tropical, wet forests of northern Brazil. Its deep chocolate‑brown body and dramatic white leg bands make it instantly recognisable, and its confident, out‑in‑the‑open nature means customers get to enjoy seeing it every day. Unlike many shy terrestrial species, A. geniculata spends much of its time visible, exploring, or waiting eagerly for food—one of the reasons it’s so popular. 
 
This tarantula grows quickly and reaches an impressive size, with females achieving leg spans of up to 21 cm. It’s a hardy, robust species that thrives in simple terrestrial setups with deep substrate and a water bowl. In the wild, it inhabits humid forest floors and burrows, and in captivity it appreciates similar conditions: warm temperatures, moderate humidity, and a stable environment. Despite being a good display species, it can be defensive and will readily flick urticating hairs when disturbed—typical New World behaviour, and something customers should be aware of.
