Paranauphoeta formosana is a striking cockroach species from Taiwan, admired for its sleek, dark body and subtle mimicry of assassin bugs.
Belonging to the family Blaberidae, this species is part of a genus known for slow reproduction and unique defensive posturing. Adults reach around 2.5–3 cm and prefer warm, humid environments with leaf litter and bark hides. They’re nocturnal, shy, and non-invasive, making them suitable for display-focused bioactive setups. While not prolific breeders, females give birth to small litters of live young, and the species thrives on fruit-rich diets with moderate ventilation.
