Nadaurelia dione is a beautifully understated African silkmoth found across parts of Central and West Africa. With its soft, earthy colouring and rounded wings, it has that classic Saturniid charm without being overly showy. Adults have a gentle, almost velvety appearance, and their calm behaviour makes them a lovely species to observe. In the wild, they feed on a range of broad‑leaved trees, particularly species of Erythroxylum and related plants. Their growth is fast and efficient, and they spin strong, compact cocoons typical of the African Saturniidae.
 
Although not as commonly kept as some of the larger or more colourful African species, N. dione has a quiet appeal that makes it a rewarding choice for anyone who enjoys the diversity of silkmoths. With the right warmth and access to suitable host plants, it offers a smooth, enjoyable rearing experience and a glimpse into the rich moth fauna of the African tropics.
